Friday 23 January 2009 - Waiting, Waiting ....

Drew woke up fine today after his platelet transfusion. They were very busy at the hospital today and we didn't see the doctor till lunch time. Drew wasn't allowed home until he had done a No. 2 and they also had to take blood and check his results. Drew complied with the No. 2 order almost immediately, and all looked well, according to the Dr (it turned out that the black spots were passion fruit seeds). Blood results came back around 4.00pm and Drew needed another transfusion as his haemoglobin was low. The first sample for cross matching was taken, but an hour later another had to be taken as the first one was too watery from the saline flush. The blood arrived at 7.15pm and as it takes 3 hours to transfuse we were in for another night - Drew wasn't impressed.
